they keep flashing!

i have just got my golf from its mot, along with some cv joints and gaiter casings being worn the rear electrics have caused some problems!
so calling all people witht he knowledge, please help!

when the headlights are on with the indicators the headlights will dim with the indicators, and the indicators are very dim to start with…

Cud anyone think of why this is?!

Poor earth ………look at all the earth points clean them remake them

List from dubboy !! You need to look at all lighting one's .

Rosette LH side behind headlamp (LH lights, front washer)
Rosette RH side behind headlamp (RH lights)
Strap from alternator to engine block
Strap to rocker cover (82> models only?)
Earth wire from diagnostic terminal block to battery (>76 models only)
Earth cable from battery to body
Earth strap gearbox LH mount to body
Earth wire from steering rack bracket to body (for horn)
Rosette on back of instrument panel
Rosette on bulkhead near fuse box / steering column bracket
LH front door contact switch (self earthing)
RH front door contact switch (self earthing)
LH rear door contact switch (self earthing, 4-door models)
RH rear door contact switch (self earthing, 4-door models)
Earth wire to interior light bracket
Earth wires to body floor (under rear carpet near bench seat for fuel pump and fuel tank sender)
Earth wire near LH tailgate hinge behind headlining (rear wiper motor)
Earth wire near RH tailgate hinge behind headlining (heated rear window)
Earth wire to rear tailgate slam panel LH side (LH rear lights, number plate lights)
Earth wire to rear tailgate slam panel RH side (RH rear lights, rear washer)

thats awesome cheers! its the bottom two which would be causing the problems i think... is the slam panel the bottom of the boot...the earth is a bar which bridges a dip in the metal??! cheers.

got a problem with my oil light

it comes on intermittently for varied lenghts of time

i know the oil pressure is fine as i got a VDO pressure gauge

and have changed the senders

i saw somewhere that there is a earth wire in the dash that is used on the oil light and buzzer


any help on its location, colour and will i have to take the whole dash out to sort this

Oil light is clock sensitive , thats to say if you have no senders fitted it will flash and the buzzer will sound . Pointers here:
2 seconds after 2000 RPM or more, light and buzzer come on, replace the high pressure switch.
Oil warning light on at idle, especially when hot, replace the low pressure switch.
No oil light blinking with key on, engine off, replace low pressure switch and/or repair light in instrument cluster.


So its check / replace senders , check wiring connections if all okay and checked with suitable oil pressure guage it means clocks have an internal fault .
