temperature warning

hi yawl

another one for yer

my temp guage is on full and the light's flashing. any idea why other than the engine's too hot cos it's not?
when the sender is wired to a meter it is stable and goes down when the fan kicks in.

i know when you take the little three pin electro-thang on the back of the clocks- the temp guage (and fuel guage) go off so is it faulty?

any ideas?

The temp gauge is controlled by both temp and water level in the expansion bottle.  Check you have enough water or that the sensor is not faulty.  I guess you can bypass the bottle sensor quite easily.

I chased a mystery mystery overheating problem for ages before taking my clocks apart and replacing the temp gauge.

Job done.

The little overheating LED never worked, not sure if that was messing it up.
