Temp gauge light

Hello everyone.
I was driving to work this morning and the light on my temp gauge started flashing at me for about 20 seconds then went off.
The car was not even hot so it was not overheating.
Has anyone seen this before and what does it mean???? My best guess so far is that something got damp from the great weather we're having.

check the connection it may be loose, because mine did something similar, what it is is sometimes i think the prongs need tightening up.

the light on my temp gauge stays on until its hot, then it goes off.
dont have any temp probs, but the temp light is a known problem with mk1's ( from what ive read in the forums ) so i just put up with the little red light  :roll:

Yeah i'm slowly learning the "put up with it" attitude with my motor.
