temp and MFA problems

I hope to be viewing a campaign this w/end. it is advertised as the temp and MFA not working…. is this a big problem to cure…is it a sign of something bad? any advice would be appreciated… it also says it is a 17EW chassis…does that ensure it is a campaign?

cheers

Yes, Maybe and No  :D

Problems with MFA and clocks can be difficult to fix - MFA will probably mean new clocks - But can be a s simple as the fuse being gone

I'd be wary about temp gauge not working - make sure the engine is not running over hot and that the cooling fan cuts in.

EW does not signify a Campaign but it is one of the features - read the Campaign Checks on the left of the screen to do the Identification properly.

Make sure it is not a 1.1 or 1.5 that has be campaigned!

Nick - if you've got any pics of the car you're going to look at or a link to a web site if on the net then let us have a look and we can give you our (un) professional opinion!

Looks not too bad - key thing is to check for any accident damage

check the fit of the panels - gaps should be even

Check how the door fits in the body over the top of the windows - the seals should be nice and flush in the body - look at the corner at the top of the a post - any gap between seal and the underside of the roof/door shut suspect a front knock

Check for barcode on central front panel support, on driver's b post and for the sticker on the inside of the rear panel.  missing any of these may indicate repainting/new panels

Read the Buying a GTi guide on the left of the screen.

Cheers

Looks like it's still for sale to me?

If it is - and you take a look at it - double chech the top of the inner wings. If that 'black stuff' is rust then walk away!
