Strange buzzing noise when i connect my clocks!!!

I'm new to VW world so this may have a really obvious answer.

My Golf is running fine and without the clocks/dials connected all the electrics seem to work ok but when i connect the clocks there seems to be a strange constant buzzing noise (a bit like a relay or something), however when i switch the indicators on the buzzing stops.

The warning lights for oil pressure, charging system and main beam don't seem to work on the clocks so i was wondering has this got something to do with the buzzing noise, but why does it go off when the indicators come on???

The car is an 82 Cab but has a 1.1 installed (no idea why) so could that have something to do with it i.e the wiring on the clocks being connected different on a 1.1 to a 1.6/1.8.

I'm tempted to buy new clocks but don't want to waste money doing this if it is a matter of swapping a few wires around, anybody got any ideas because i'm completely lost!!! :?

The buzzing noise is the warning buzzer for the oil pressure.

Usually it would set the warning light off so it sounds to me as the dash may be damaged on the wiring tracks along the back?

the buzzer is a nasty common problem, as above pointed out,

i've m8 who had a lush mk1 in baby it was in real good nick almost go as far as to say the cleanest i've seen,

anyway one night driving home the buzzer went off like there all prone to do he was quite a distant from home, after about 20 mins the noise got to much, so asulted the dash to rip the clocks out just shut it up, and in the process cos he never pulled over he was doing while driving still crashed his mk1 and enough damage not to bother getting it repaired it sat up for years rusting away  shame was a nice mk1

sorry its no help but just reminded me when  read this topic

Cheers, looks like i'll be visiting ebay then for a new dash, as far as i'm aware the oil pressure is ok but obviously it's best to double check, thanks again
