starting problams

hi all, im havin abit of trouble with my mk1 cabriolet i brought it as a project and carnt get it turning over with the key. when i turn the key nothing happens, can any one give me advise on why this is please? any advise will be a massive help cheers. p.s it does run as iv heard it running when i brought lol and all the wires seem to be there but its not the cleanest of looms. please help.

Flat battery?  :dontknow:

thanks for the thought but battery is sound im getting fuel and spark to but just no start :?

Ignition coil maybe, you get spark but maybe it is too weak to fire engine.

see what your saying but its as if i have got some wires missing im going to just keep tinkering with it but i think i could do with trying to find a full loom, in car and engine section for a 1983 cabriolet gti.

Have you tried the starter motor, starter motor wiring, engine earth points and starter solenoid? I had the same prob and it turnt out to be starter earth point
