Speakers

:? Hi all, only just joined the owner's club, trying to get hold of some pretty obvious info.
Having owned and loved a Mk 3 golf 1.8GL for 8 years, I felt it was time to get a proper VW, only got half way there though!! with a 1991 clipper, couldn't quite strech to the GTi sport-line I was after.

Anyway, I am trying to find exactly what speakers (dimensions etc) are fitted to the car without tearing all the grills etc off, can anyone tell me. I'm also looking for a cream hood in mohair, only tracked down canvas thus far in that colour.
Any help or advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks,

Tenbellies

Try carhoods northern for the hood

I don't know what size the speakers are but in my Mk1 I have Infinity speakers that were specifically listed to fit VW and guess what, they did.  I also had these in the back of my Polo Coupe which were again, listed to fit the car.  I can tell you they are oval rather then round, dunno if that helps…

Standard GTI door pockets and rear parcel shelf supports take a 6"x4" speaker

Thanks very much guys, i've dropped carhoods northern a line, so hopefully have some luck there.
I've still yet to find the exact sizes of the speakers, so i'll just rip the covers open and have the super-glue ready!!

I replaced my front & rear speakers with Infinity 425i's. 6 x 4 front and    4 x 4 rear. Both pairs fit within the original housings without damaging the plastics/cards. The sound is good but wouldn't win any ICE prizes for volume/base.

Supplied to me by Southside Audio, Southampton for about ?50.00 per set (I think).

The front speakers in a '91 Clipper may be bigger than 6"x4" if the speaker grilles are round, rather than oval - late cabriolets had a larger, round speaker in a different pod on the front door pockets.

Not sure of the size of these larger ones, but some of the Cabby-owners here may know…

My '90 cab has 6x4's in the front and round ones (don't know size) in the rear side panels
