Smoke from Dash
My 1983 Campaign has been on the road a couple of months now and on two occasions I have experienced smoke coming from behind the dashboard. On both occasions lights and heater were on and on at least one occasion, the wipers were on as well.
I switched off right away and everything appears to work fine but I am a bit worried that I might not get away with it next time.
Has anyone any ideas what could cause this to happen?

Depends where thesmoke is coming from. I had this on mine some time ago and it was the 3-position heater fan switch which was melting. Replaced switch and seems to be ok since although now speed 3 doesn't work so I guess I hadn't sorted the cause of the problem.
All you can do is have a good look behind the dash - take the surround off as not dificult and see what you can see!

A good place to check is the headlamp switch as the dimmer unit causes problems. There have been posts in the past about smoke/ fire from the switch.
