Single headlight Question

If you run a single headlight do you have sidelights wired in

if not how could i wire them in?

Nothing to do with whether its single or twin headlights. Golf Mk1s have a sidelight bulb in the headlamp (separate from the headlamp bulb) which has 2 connections to it, power and an earth. Additionally, some models have to comply with dim-dip regulations which means that with sidelights turned on and ignition on, the dipped beam bulb is powered at a lower voltage. This is done by a circuit of its own and a resistor element.
