Single headlamp conversion,any info guides?

Hi im new here and have just brought my very 1st golf ever very first VW actually, Im a technician for a main dealer branch (not VAG)

The motor I have got is a very nice MK1 1800 carb clipper,loverly car leather seats,elec windows mohair hood ect.

I was wondering if anyone on here knows how to covert the twin lamps to a single lamp type, I was thinking of getting the original older type of single headlamp wiring then just replace them,am I right in doing this or is there a kit of some sort anyone knows of?.

If you're converting from twin to single lamps, all you need to do is (obviously) swap the grille, then wrap the extra wires in insulation tape and tie them neatly out the way somewhere. Its as simple as it can get, there is a wire which piggybacks off the main beam connector on the headlamp plug, and another wire which is the earth.

If the inner lights were fogs instead of extra headlamps for main beam, then the wire will be extra, instead of piggybacked, but its the same idea.

I'd not recommend chopping the wire off, since if you keep it then reverting to 4 lamps is easy.
