Sidelight

Hi,

I'm having a problem with one of the sidelights on my 1992 cabby not working.  I've established that I'm not getting power to the positive connection on the bulb holder, but it's not the fuse as the tail light on that side is working.  This makes me think it's either the wire itself from the fuse panel to the light or the connection at the back of the fuse panel, so I'm planning to check the back of the panel and the contiuity of the wire from there to the light.

As I've never had the fuse panel out before has anyone got any top tips on getting to the back of it and, more importantly, getting it back together again?  Also I'm working off the wiring diagram from the Haynes for a Mk2, anyone know if there are any significant differences from this?

Cheers

No expert on the cab but on tin tops remove the lower screws below the fuze board lift up and down she comes , easy . Stick to Mk1 wiring diagrams [Haynes] .

Hope this helps  ….

Thanks Chudd, I'll give it a go.  Unfortunately the Mk2 Haynes is all I've got

They use the same fuse board, so the wiring will be very similar.  Wire colours may change but you could find the wire colour by looking at the contact that plugs into the connector on the rear of the fuse board.  Big

Thanks  :y: , just spent half the afternoon under the dashboard and found that to pretty much be the case.  Managed to fix the light I had the problem with but now the other one won't work  :banghead:

I seem to have a bad connection on the wire from the back of the panel to the sidelight as the resistance is several kohms.  I think it's at the multi pin connector that goes into the back of the fuse box.   Anyone know how they come apart - does each metal connector just pull out of the plastic - and what's the best way to put them back together again?

Cheers
