Series 1 Loom Help Required

Hi guys, can anyone tell me if its possible to convert an early 78 golf mk1's car loom and fusebox to the later style fusebox and loom BUT still retain the old mk1 golf dash and dash loom.

Ive never looked at the loom for series 2 mk1 golfs and their dash loom so unaware of what their connectors look like that link back to the fusebox.

Regards
Jassi

I don't understand why you would want to do that? If part of your loom or fusebox is not repairable, replace it like for like.

I have almost done that, I have an 82 Golf C with the early fuse box. I have just changed the dash from the S2 to the S1! All i had to do was swap the wires around on the 14 pin connector on the back of the clocks! Some time I would like to change to the later type fuse box, it should be easy to swap over!

Would like to do mine due to engine conversion as it becomes alot easy with series 2 loom and fusebox. Plus for reliability.

I would ditch the S1 dash loom then and just use it's connector blocks swapping terminals as necessary.

what i'm doing though isnt as straight foward as that though! in the middle of putting a 1.6gti into a 1.3. have the series one loom but its full of shorts and some of the wiring isnt lining up. have a doner 1.8gti so going to lift the wiring from it over to my project car.
