Roof not working??

Hi all I'm new to this forum and hoping for some help. I've brought a clipper j plate cab with an electric roof but it don't work. When I release the front catches and press the button I just get a click from the relay in the boot ?? Any ideas ??

You need to have a look see at the hydraulic fluid level.

Some times the resevoir splits at the base and you lose the fluid.

You need to take the rear boot card off and have alook see.

You may have a leaky  ram too.

Or It may need topping up that's all.

There is a T shaped key that you can undo to operate the hood manually.

Get some pics up to, so we can have a look to see if we can diagnose a problem.

Cheers

Check supply to motor,  can you hear it run?

These have a seperate  thermo fuse located on top of the fuse box.

But I think that you have supply there.

The T screw should be wound in for proper operation of the top.

Fluid needs to be checked with  the hood in the open position.

As a thought these work with the Key in the switch on position 1, not ign.

Wiggle the key whilst holding the roof swith down.

If it works clean the switch out and the ign switch etc.

It's not supposed to work with the engine running lol, imagine you get caught in a summer shower and you doing 60 and you put the roof up LOl.

if you have a matching year tonneau cover there are disabling parts on the studs that stop the hood from being raised by accident with the cover in place.

Been out to mine this morn to check.

just key in ign barrel.

don't turn at all, if it don't work wiggle the key and turn slightly till you get a contact whilst holding the roof open switch down.

make sure it's unhooked at the front. lol.

Hope that sorts it.

No probs,

another favourite is no dash lights at night when headlights on.

Some times the light adjustment wheel is turned down.

I scratched my head for 30 mins sussing that out.

What car do you have, is it a blue Rivage?

Happy days, roll on summer.

I just had that prob with my cab! I had checked the fuse, under the bonnet behind the battery, as its aftermarket power for the hood. The fuse was fine, so?!?!? It was the fuse holder had had it! Nipped off the fuse holder ends, stripped back the wire, put on new ends, inserted correct new fuse, bound up, reconnected, hood worked like a dream! Just got to top up hydraulic fluid now….  8O

These have an extra attachment to the fuse box where the fuse fits and have a self resetting thermo fuse in case of overload.

I've got the same problem after some helpful advice checked the fluid and the 'T' switch was nice a tight and not in over ride but had the relays off and they've got water in but found some cheap relays on eBay for £5.99 just check them out they are the little grey plugs show in the pics above they're all numbered and replace the offender, Hope this helps

My dad used to say I squandered money, so I made an invested in my Rivage he's still not happy - but I love my money pit!!

It's the clipper auto with the crappy pierburg carb which I'm trying to get running right. I've got what seems to be a 'lazy starter motor' always starts but as if the battery is dying.
Are the auto motors the same as the manual??

Previous owner of my auto changed the carb for a Webber… Sounds very sweet now! And the  manual choke is better, too. Have you got pics of your auto? There arent many of them!!

Nothing wrong with the pieburgh if it's set up properly.
Automatics have an issue of the starter being so close to the exhaust manifold so the starters play up.
I had an auto, ended up putting a new starter on it.

I think it is a mk2 one. Got mine from GSF.
