rewinding mk1 clocks??!

Hi guys i know rewinding clocks is not exactly the ok thing to do, well its probebly illegal but i have a 6k bam engine in the golf and i would like to rewind the clocks to the exact milage of the engine .. dont suppose any of you guys have done it or know of someone who can help etc?? Thanks oz

Not illegal as long as you do-not try to pass the car off as low miles when you sell it, keep a note of the genuine miles and when you changed it and you'll be fine.

thanks bigw2069 , what i will do is work out the milage that i put on the car/engine every 6 months and tally it up each year and put in a service book of some sort. Not just for the re-sale (if ever i do !) but more for my satisfaction really. thanks oz

In the back of Auto Trader there are always 'mileage correction' outfits offering their services. I would be that quite a few offer dodgy readings but ic you visit second hand garages you see the stickers saying 'mileage cannot be verified' to cover their backs.

So long as you don't pass it off as genuine mileage you'll be ok.
