rev gauge not working? and speedo lights help

i have a 1300 mk1 golf, 1300 engine out of the mk1#2 hk engine code,
i have a rev gauge on the clocks but the rev gauge dont work,  also the interor lights on the clocks dont work, where does the wire from the rev gauge go to ?? in the engine bay??

check the plug that goes into the back of the guage pod, pull it out and re-seat it....next, check the wires going to the coil in the engine bay....not sure which ones are the rev counter...will have a look on mine in a minute.....did it have a rev counter originally ? although i think they all had the wiring for it regardless.....i

My rev counter wire is white/lilac.
