Rev counter and fuel gauge not working!!! Help

Just bought my first golf Mk1.

The speedo and and clock work but the temp, tacho and fuel gauge don't work at all! Is there a simple answer to this?

Cheers

hi i had the same problem, i took the instrument cluster out to investigate and couldnt find anything obvious so put it all back together and it worked fine so i am guessing it was just a dodgy connection at the back of the cluster, give it a go you never know.

Ive got the same problem on mine. Where abouts is the voltage regulator? And Baller, how did you fix yours if you did anything different. Ive had the dash out and checked all the multiplug wires and connectors but still no joy. Thanks

All I did was take off the drivers parcel shelf so I could look up from under neath, pulled the plug off,had a thin bit of rag to clean the printed circuit board and wiped off the plug connections.Couldn't see anything wrong to be honest but it all works now.
If it plays up again in the near future I'll probebly take the dash cluster right out and have a proper look at it.

Very, Very confused now!

I've got the dash working but everything is incorrect!
The rev-counter is reading half what it should be the temp sensor doesnt seem to relate to anything and the petrol gauge never goes above half way!!!

Aaaarrrrgggghhhhh!!!!
