Relay/Fusebox wiring

Post

Hi and Happy New Year to you all,

I've been trying to get my Cabby going and intially thought that an old alarm/immobilser/aftermarket remote central lockingmay have been the cause. I also noted that one of the terminals on the fusebox was damaged so after a few days of looking at what was what, decided to remove the alarm system and replace the fusebox.

After carefully tracing cables back and forth and carefully reconnecting, the engine turns over, runs for 2 or 3 seconds and dies. However, I am not convinced about the wiring, specifically what looks like an aftermarket relay from the ignition, especially as the connectors dont quite look right.

The pic attached shows the light blue relay and wires/connectors in question. The black connector block runs to the ignition switch, with the white connector having two slots but only 1 being used?

cheers

looks liek a leftover from alarm to me, if i were you i would trace all wires from it and bin.  ign switch wiring should run straight to fusebox, you should be able to work it out if you follow the wires where its been hacked into. also see my sig jetta89.pdf for a full wiring diagram for your fusebox. its not 100% the same as its us spec mk2 jetta, but will be close enough for what you need
