rear sidelight problems

My rear sidelights decided to stop working the other night in my 1990 1.8 8v cabriolet.  All other lights work, when the ignition is on all lights except for the rear sidelights work as they should.  When the ignition is off and the lightswitch is on sidelights or full then the front sidelights are on but nothing on the rears.  If the ignition is off and the right indicator is on then I have sidelights on front and rear both sides but no lights at ll if the indicator is in the left position.
Any ideas?

Yeah thats where my money would be too (bad earth), have a play with the two rear light clusters see if it makes any differnce?

what makes you say bad earth when all the rear lights share the same earth.  I disconnected and reconnected everything, joints, fuses and relays.  Might just throw a wire from the front sidelights for now

yeah, im toying with the switch.  need to find a diagram for it, see which contacts are playing up.  Also just remembered drunkenly fixing it at last years deva show with a pen spring and a kitkat wrapper!!! That was because I had no lights!! Think that could well be the problem :&
