rear brake lights always on?

So as title states, slight problem with rear lights.

there always on, engine on or off. ive only had a quick look as ive just pulled up at a mates, and were currently having a small tropical storm here.

pulled the yellow connector out the back of the fuse box, which turns them off to stop me battery going flat.

so any idea's of what to look at/ poke/ bang with a big hammer tommorow would be much greatly recived.

cheers
Rich

If at First you don't succeed, find a bigger hammer :P

I'd check the foot brake button if you have one, chances ard that it's sticking in - mines does occasionally!

Right thanks for the reply's dubboy and dano.

so had a look this morning, as the rain had stopped, and the switch is the hydrolic one just off the master cylinder, don't know if its normal but i have 2 switches(1 each side) bridged together, and it appears 1 is stuck on, so removed lead to it and lights go out.

lights still work as the other one is still plugged in, so dose anyone know if i can leave it like it is, or if it has 2 for a reason?

cheers guys

There is two spade connectors on mine, both doing the same job, must be if one fails then you still have brake lights.

Not sure why one of your spades is dead but prob best to get it sorted!

there is one for each circuit on the mc, so if you loose 1 ciurcuit the brkae lights still work. but tbh if you lost a brake circuit i think the fact your brake lights dont work are the least of your worries

if you are worried you could mod your pedal box to accept a pedal switch, that'll save you having to open your brake system
