radiater fan

on driving home on m4 last night temp guage went right over to hot , managed to pull into services where the red light started flashing. turned off engine no boiling over …

fan not cutting in…have checked fuse and ok.   cut wires to fan and connected to  battery and fan ok…. could it be the sender/thermastat in the rad thats gone caput…….

well reconected wires and put in new themostat 2 min job but as soon as keys in iggnition and turn on water guage goes to hot and light flashes for over heat.. disconectct guage sender unit on block and engine running fine….do you think i need to change temp guage sender unit aswell… was also told theres a temp sensor switch some where….nwhere is that….  pulling my hair out now was putting it up for sale next week so need tosort asap….any ideas folks

the fan sensor is on the radiator itself. pull the plug bridge the red wire to the other pin, if fan runs its the sensor thats bust.

you'll need to repair the wire you cut before doing this test though
