Problem with understanding wiring diagram. Please help.
Hello everybody. My name is Alex, I'm from Moscow =).
I'm new to car rebuiling and to everythng that goes with it. I've bought a Haynes manual (UK 726) but I have big problems in understanding the wiring. I'm sorry for bothering you but I really need to ask you some questions.
So. For example I take this Lilac/Black wire (3 from the left) that is conected to 14 pin connector that goes to the instrument panel. The manual says that that wire is conected to the 3 contact, so it is.
In the manual it says that this wire goes to E12. It means multi pin connector E contact 12 that is connected to the relay, right?
I have followed it, but the wire goes to B3 =(
And the same story with most of the wires. Can anybody please tell me what am I doing wrong? Thank you.
And I also didn't understand what those lines in the up mean (15, 30, 31)
p.s. The steering wheel is on he left side. And sorry for my English, hope you understood something =).

Probably looking up the wrong wiring diagram. There's basically 2 variations, continental fuses and blade style fuses.

My car is 1982 (carburettor). And the diagram is for 1981 Golf and Jetta carburettor. And I have blade type fuses.

Changed after August 1982 for most or all cars. I think you will find if you move to the next series it will match up right. If it is a German printing look for "ab August 82".

I have found the diagram for later models (1982 onward) in my book =) (it was in Supplement section). But it's almost the same. And the wire still goes to E12 instead of B3.
And there is another thing I can't understand. So the Letters with numbers on the top indicate relay wiring. But how come it is written F in the diargam when there is no F letter on relay. And it also shows some connections to H but there were no from the start.

Ok. Will try. Thanks. My friend also told me that maybe because I have an automatic transmission, it doesn't match. Is that possible?

I guess I am a little at fault here as the diagram I was matching up also said GTi and GLi. Even though you may not have a GTi or GLI. check that diagram as I believe it will match your car.
Not sure I understand your question about the "F". The letters with a number at the top don't indicate relay wiring but rather the connections on the rear of the panel. Just as you showed the "B" connector there is an "F" connector (or sometimes they are just a single pin). The "F" does not have anything to do with the relays, but they are also shown within the top area with their connections also shown.

Yes an "F" connector, but there is no "F" written there.
For example here. No "F".

Hurray!!! The problem really was in the diagram. I've looked through all the diagrams and as GrimyFingers said Gti and Gli was for me =).
Thank you very much!
