fan belt squeals when blowers are on because its working harder probably just loose belt but would be worth changing it if you dont know how old it is.
remove plug from radiator and with ignition on, put a piece of wire in the terminals of the plug this will check the wiring is ok and the fan should come on, if the fan does work the rad fan swithch is faulty if not its wiring fuse or a relay.
also check that water is circulating properly as it could be overheating as the temp gauge is saying that, thermostat could be stuck feel how hot the top and bottum hoses are coming from rad.

Hiya Should the bottom hose coming from the rad be hot or cold??

Al the hoses should get hot, if it doesn't then the coolant isn't circulating.

I would do this first as if the water dont circulate properly the rad switch might not be getting to the correct temp to work as the system is static not flowing as it should, the rad switch is cheap enough too so it might be worth gettin one of those whilst your there, it saves the problem occuring later and/or eliminates it from your enquirys now so to speak
get a new fan belt too, the way i check for correct fitting and tension on the belt is by twisting the belt left and right with thumb and fingers when its fitted, there should be some flex so the "teeth" are able to be seen when you flex left and right but not too much, dont forget to check it after a week or so as the belts do give little when worn in a bit
