PLEASE Help Urgent - Car Cuts out Randomly

Hi all,

New to the forum, not sure if this is posted correctly.

Can someone please advise ….

I have a MK1 GOLF GTi Sportline 1.8GTi

Never had any MAJOR electrics problem … until I did something really stupid…

I gave the care to be washed ( jet washed) with the side lights on ( i know don't tell me I f'd up BIG TIME)

As the car was washed I drove up the road, as I indicated right, (I had my sub booming, don't even realise the car had stalled) tried to restart as I thought it was a simple stall, but I did not get any ignition lights? I thought I may have run out of fuel, walked down got petrol topped up , jumped in , ignition lights kicked in started drove beautifully, drove up for 2 mile, then cut out again, waited for 10 minutes, restarted, got up to 1 mile, cut out again.

I changed the fuel pump relay as I was not getting ignition lights as my Clifford alarm will disable the immobiliser allowing me to crank the engine, yes no engine lights, oil battery nothing, no fuel pump buzz noise, but does try turn over the engine?

the more I try to start the car something resets and makes me wait longer, ? saying this…. I went for an extensive drive the following day as I thought what ever it was fixed it self?

A day later to that, same issues occurred, Can some one please advise , ad all connections fuses , relays all seem OK , i don't know what I have done to the electrics as , when I indicate , even reverse the car cuts out!

Please help me!

Thanks in advance!

If everything else seems to be fine try calling your alarm manufacturer, as the immobiliser is linked to some of the lighting circuits. I would also try undoing the battery and leave it off over night to reset everything then reconnect the live terminal.

Also if you have subs etc you maybe drawing to much power with lights on etc. try driving around for a bit with no audio system and see if it levels out
