pheonix gold 5" front components where???

howdi ppl!,

got a set of 5 inch front components and tweaters to wire up, except i  can not find anywhere to put the 5" speakers, i have custom door cards with no door pockets to fit them in. does anyone kjnow where i can fit them? i was kind of thinking making a custom pod up for them and mounting them on my door cards, or either in the undertrays??  :dontknow:   i think ive sorted the tweaters, finking about mounting them behind my dash vents except does anyone know if the blowing effect from the fan will effect these (sound quality) in anyway

definatly put the mid cone on the door card or make a kick well build. They will need to be in an enclosure as this is as important as your speaker choice.
Putting them in the dash tray will not give the speaker it's own air (enclosure) if you wanna see what I mean take one of your home hifi speakers (in an enclosure) and unscrew it and hold it in your hand, there will a massive difference in sound responce escpecilly mid bass!
As for the tweaters you ideally waht them to be as close to the mid as possible so ideally in the door card, but for ease dash fit will be fine as long as you don't put them in the actual vent where hot air is passing through

Why do you say that, i have heard about people doing this, but am not sure why, in a mk2 golf the tweater is in teh dash facing the windscreen, quite a distance from the door pod!

do what this bloke did:
http://www.revmagazine…d-view.asp?tid=52&posts=4

its a really brilliant way to do it - I've just done a set for mine, they're not quite finished yet, but should be great when done, the best thing is you can fit them in the same way as the standard pockets so you could take them off and go back to standard :D

AxlFoley: It's all to do with sound delay. The reason being when your sitting in the cab the music from the all the speakers should meet you at the same time so you get the full range of music. Having the tweaters in the dash means you may get the real high stuff first.
The difference is really minimal and you probably only notice the music being slightly brighter if anything because there closer, thats why I said ideally you should fit them close to the speaker. But as you said many cars have them in the dash as standard beemers, mk2 golfs etc etc the list goes on.

Also that link for those builds is really good definatly the best way to do it, Just use good screws to fix to the door or when you slam it shut, it will fall off!!! 8O   :banghead:

Ive mentioned this in another thread, but i mad trays from a old 90's fiat uno fit. They just screw in from the back of teh door cars, i then made up a custom speaker housing. The colour matches the mk1 door card perfectly
