Permanant Live?

Hi,

my girlfriend's mk1 1.1 seems to be on a permanant live - all the electrics ie wiper and heater motor will work with the ignition off - is this the same for all mk1's, or has it been bodged somewhere?  Or is there a common fault that causes this at all?

you've got a problem.  some circuits are permantly hot but not those.  send me yr email via pm & I'll wing over some wiring diagrams - you'll be able to see which circuits are supposed to be hot and those that are not - from this you should be able to trace back.
