Oil temp sender adaptor ??

Hi

ANOTHER question i hope you clever lot can help with.  Ive fitted the vdo gauges to my car and have fitted the oil pressure sender ontop of the filter housing with the 2 outputs on (one for the existing mfa connection and one for the wire from the gauge)

I now want to connect the oil temp gauge wire which i know you can get a sender which screws into your sump but i would rather fit it to the oil filter housing using a T piece which i beleive can be done

Where can i get a t piece from though or am i way off track

I personally would have fitted the twin VDO sender unit in the side of the head as oil pressure is better measured at the head imo rather than at the pump. If you loose oil pressure it will show up at the head first before it does a the pump imo. Also this means that you would then have the oil housing free for the temp sender unit you want to fit, and then no need for a T piece

I've always ran mine in the head take off as well ,and it works fine and was a easier to fit then int he oil housing  :)

Cheapest place i have found in the UK for senders and sandwich plates.

http://domain887009.sites.fasthosts.com/shop/index.php?act=viewProd&productId=29

Also the guages are dam cheap! The oil sender is 8 quid, and the temp sender is 5 quid.

as i have no senders and guages that dont work, was going to get some of ebay. but i found cheaper NEW!.

Hope it helps!

nice one. would of got those instead of my vdo gauges if i had known.

So if i fit the pressure sender into the head like posted above with the 2 points on one for the mfa and one for the gauge leaving the standard sensor unconnected the oil pressure will be fine

BUT if i got one of those senders on the site they still have one connector on them meaning i cant connect the oiltemp on the mfa AND the gauge one doesnt it… :dontknow:

yup your right. only one pole for the gauge. I think its the idea is to use the sandwich plate. on then sender units, The best place for a sender is in the head, taking the pressure from there as stated before. T pieces can be bought cheaply
