In the end, I used M6 (I think?) nuts and if you screw them on they are just about tight enough to cut their thread on the plastic.
Well, they've not fallen off yet anyway!

They're only about 20p each. I bought some for the intercooler pipe mounts on my MK4 turbo. I'll try and find the part number.

Yep either that or drill some holes and use a black nut and bolt.
