non starter

Hi everyone,

MK1 20vt AGU:-
The plan for today was to remove the dash and start tidying up some of the loose and un-used wires that i dont need, in preperation for installing some heaters(dont have any).

So i started checking out the fuses etc, when i noticed one was broken so removed it, thought i will get one tomorrow!!! So took out the dials and facias etc then started un-bolting the dash. There was`nt much room at the passenger side of the car so jumped into start the car and move her over, turned the key, NOTHING HAPPENED!

Battery light comes on when i turn the ignition and is fully charged, you can hear the solenoid engage but thats it, so think it must be the STARTER MOTOR as it has been a bit noisey lately.

Ended up removing the starter instead of doing the wiring, aaaarggghhh!!

Just looking for a second opinion before i buy a new starter………….

Oh i will replace the fuse first before i do anything although i am sure that the missing fuse is nothing to do with the starter.
