No Oil Temp on MFA and Water Temp Gauge not working
At present my MFA shows the oil temp as '—' and the water temp gauge does not rise but the red LED does flash when I first start the car. The rest of the MFA works fine apart from the outside temp which has always shown about -31 ! Not bothered about the outside temp but would like to get the water temp gauge and oil temp working again.
I have checked the following after searching previous threads :
1. Earth from rocker cover to coil bracket is present and clean.
2. Thin Earth wire that connects to right hand rocker stud is connected.
3. Replaced both the oil temp and water temp senders with new ones and ensured connections are clean.
I am sure that this must be an earth related issue - well I hope so anyway !
Where do I go next ???????

Try Chudd's suggestion but ….
I think you have x2 problems (1) no input from the oil temp sensor - found on top of the oil cooler which is found on top of the oil filter and (2) no input from the outside temp sensor - go to electrics FAQ's and you'll find a detailed post on how to address this

Ok - thanks for the suggestions.
Battery disconnected for 2 hours and then reconnected - sadly no difference.
Have cleaned the connectors to both the oil temp sender and the water temp sender. Still have no Oil Temp displayed and the Water Temp Gauge still does not move.
I have read every post in the electrical FAQ but don't know what to do next ?

I odn't mean to sound patronising here but, so your aware, your oil temp doesn't show up until it get's above 50? (pretty certain) just check that before you panic major, as for your flashing LED i have the same problem…. after lots of perceverence (sp) i still have that same flashing light.

Thanks - had a read up in the Haynes. Found the section describing testing the gauge. Will do this tomorrow.
