No Indicators or Hazzards!!!

Hope someone can help!

I dont seem to have any indicators or hazzard lights.  I've tried changing the fuse which is located in number 8 and is a 20v and also changed the flasher unit with nothing happening.

The green light comes on, on the dash but doesnt flash (not sure if it's suppost to).

Anyone had this problem before or know where the best place is to look next?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

check the little wire sepret on the hazard switch (not in the connector block) mine got disconbnected when i removed the dash and i was scratching my head for a few weeks tryin to sort that out, that wire stops all indicators n hazards.

I had the same problem, it turned out to be the hazard switch, got another from a breakers, and it was sorted :D  Help this helps.

I think it was due to when the hazards are switched on, it won't let the indicators on as well, and as the switch was broke none of it worked

query

Just a query are the indiactors still meant to work if you disconnect the hazard switch?

also where is the flasher unit and fue for the indicators!

Cant tell you if the indicators are supossed to work if the hazzard switch is disconected because mine still arent working :banghead: and never have yet!!!

Flasher unit is located up above the fuses.  It's the blocks with numbering on them.

On another note though, I would say that the indicators should not work with the hazzard switch disconnected from the advice the guys have given already, think it trips out.

I'm doing a full run through all the units and then taking out the dash this weekend if the problem cant be solved via the fuse box etc.

Every weekend is a school day at the moment. I'll def feel like I have completed something when it's solved.

Then it's onto the oil leak!!! But going to fully clean and polish/replace some parts anyway.

Likely to be a faulty hazard switch or the wires connected to it as the other posters here have already mentioned. I'm on my 3rd switch hazard switch and have yet to replace the flasher relay. Could play up though, worth checking anyway.

I had exactly the same problem.  Found that at first it was my fuse, 10amp effort which meant the dash light lit up but didn't flash…

Once I took some time over it I found it was a loose earth on the front indicator, I have a karmann cabrio and so the body kit has the indicators…once I fixed the earth and replaced the bulp the hazards and indicators started working again…

its a nightmare to experience, nearly resorted to stickin my hand out the window to indicate  :P

Davey,

Sounds like some good advice.  So I should start with removing the units in the bumpers first before attacking the dash?  I have done the flasher unit/fuse/hazzard switch replacement.

Funny you should mention putting your arm out the window, I've actually had to once or twice already, but only on right handers or a may run the risk of crashing

Evil,

Yeah I found that the whole indicator had worked its way loose.  The indicator is earthed on the body and so when the connection falls away it blows the fuse hence the light up on the dash.  8O

Mine wasn't particularly accessible but got it after half an hour of rolling about on the ground!

Well, spent most of today trying, trying and trying again to solve this problem and so far I've came up with nothing.

So far I have:

corrected all the fuses
removed front bumper and checked internal earth's and body earths
replaced hazzard switch
replaced flasher unit
checked out earths in the boot

One main concern or thought is that there appears to be units missing on my fuse board.  Two spots dont have cables behind them so no worries there but another two places do and there isnt any units there  8O
Could this be what is causing my indicators fault???

Here is a pic which will prob explain it better! Excuse the size and quality!

Tomorrow is another day though, I'm going to run back from the hazzard switch and see what the score is there!

Any help would be great here guys.

Cheers
