nightmare wiring loom !!!
hi, just rebuilding my car after full rebuild (see my thread in projects) and basically i seem to have a fair few wires without a home am going to need some help. its a series 1 fuse box. any really easy to read pictures anywhere as sometimes wiring diagrams can look very complex lol
1981 1600 gti was silver now mars red!!

Can you get some pictures [clear] of the wires ? They can then be identified or have you tried using the wire locater post at the top of the Electrics posts .
Fuel pump relay [as post below] you can have a constant running ignition supplied pump but if you crashed the car ! Fuel keeps flowing . Get a free Deamon tweeks catalogue from the web site , they have plenty of fuel related safety devices and or relay set ups . If you try to fit the original [which should be on the top of the fuze box] you may struggle as its obviously been bodged due to problems before .

Settled In
Spent the last few weeks down this road, 1st the dash lights went, then wipers and heater this has taken about 6 hours to get to the bottom of.
Bad earth etc sorted, but have spotted that carb relay has been bypast, problem being the original wires are still joined plus the bypast, the carb relay was still inplace which caused clicking/ fusing!
I have removed carb relay, and car runs fine, my concern is should the old wire to relay/ fuse box still be live! :dontknow:
