Mystery yellow wire .. ?

Hi all,

I've got a broken cable (completely yellow) leading out of the loom around the pipes to the heater matrix / right side of the cylinder head and am not sure what it needs connecting to .. anyone got any ideas ?

Thx in advance

Got any photos of it, is there a spade on the end of teh wire? What engine is it? From memory could be wire to the oil pressue switch, on smaller engines also temp sender in this area.

It's a 1.8 DX GTI engine and the yellow wire is broken and I'm blown if I know where it came from / went to, but it's just sitting there and everything would appear to be connected so got no clue really.
I'll try and upload a picture but someone must have seen this wire on their 1.8 DX, no ?

Thx

Its possible that its an 'extra' non-standard wire, which has been added eg. for oil pressure gauge, or something. Have you followed the wire and where does it go at the other end?

the yellow wire connects to the oil pressure switch which is screwed into the side of the cilinderhead. I just had a look at my GTI and the wire is original, when I disconnected the wire, the oil pressure light on the dash stopped flickering!
