There was a how to on a thread to fit a mk2 motor - quite straight forward just need to make a small loom to adapt the mk1 plug to mk2 motor socket.

Before doing that make sure your wiper mech is clean and the spindles are free as they get stiff.

I always wondered if a late Cab would have a more powerful motor but Mk1 connector. Anyone know?

I seen someone selling 'upgraded' motors on evil-bay, couldn't read the part number, probably deliberate, looked like a Passat motor though due to it's size : :dontknow:

I fitted a Mk2 motor to mine though I have removed the pics from my webspace!  :banghead:

Easy to do, you just need to make up about 5 short jumper cables with the appropriate spade connectors on each end.
The Mk1 Plug and the Mk2 Motor each have the terminals numbered. Just match up the numbered pins with the leads you make up - job done!

Thinking about doing this ASAP. Did it make a big improvement? Was it that easy to do? Just unbolt one and bolt the other on?

Cheers.

Yep!

The motor sits at a different angle to the Mk1 version, which means that you can't put the brace that goes from the motor to the bulkhead back on. You could quite easily make one up to fit though, but it works fine without it.

Great! Does anyone have a Mk2 motor?

I'll post this in the 'wanted' section too.

The boys I bought my cab off sell upgrade motors ready to fit on "evil" ebay wiper upgrade link. They're good guys, got lots of bits!

Yeah I think ?20's a bit steep for a second hand motor from a car (MK2) that has no where near as much appeal / resale value as the Mk1.

Thanks anyway!

Having just done this conversion, in the rain ;-( I thought I'd just add that of the 5 wires, 3 match the colours already there (I'm colour blind and if I can do it anyone can), and the other 2 are the slow and fast speed. I switched on the motor and it was obvious that I'd got them the wrong way round. If you leave 5-6 inches of cable on the motor, you can attach the electrics and try the motor on the airfilter and then mount it on the linkage and fit it without having to disconnect them.
