MK1 golf indicator and hazard light fault?

Hi im wondering if someone can please help me out!! i have a 1981 mk1 golf 1.6 gti, she runs like a dream but she wont go threw her mot due to the indicators and hazards dnt work?? when i press the hazard switch or use the indicator stalk nothing happens but the green light shows permanently on? this has completely stumped me and any help would be highly appreciated!

What things, if any, have you tried so far to remedy the problem? Even if the hazard switch is dead, the indicators should still work. I'm thinking relay. Hopefully someone else can add…

This could well be due to a faulty flasher switch [the dash one] . Quite common . Switch is still available .

But have also seen water in the fuze box and wet relays causing the same thing for location see  The Mk1 Golf Owners Club

This will sound so basic, but it happened to me the other day.  It was the fuse!  just have a look at the fuse on the box, it may just need  changing.

Happened to me, try putting the hazard switch on halfway and see if the indicators work…

will deffo be a switch or relay..
