Mk1 Cabriolet Roof not working

hi there guys, just bought a gorgeous mk1 Cabriolet with an electric roof, the only problem is that it does not work!
Ive had a brief look at the switch and it seems to be a complex microswitch instead of the usual VW ones which can be fixed in s few seconds,
Does anyone know how to test the switches and or where to start diagnosing this issue?

ive checked all the relays for operation, they all seem fine! someone said it could be the position switch on the ignition as you have to have key in but not on! can anyone tell me the colour of this wire and where it goes so i can give it a feed to test? cheers guys

dunno what wire it is onto the ignition, but yeah keys need to be in for power but no ignition in on position.
Have you got electric windows?? if you have use one of those switches its the same, new switch is only about ?12 from vw

unfortunately not got leccy windows, was thinking i could just do a continuity test on the switch but since it has about 5 connectors on it, does anyone know which ones should work when switch is in good working order?
