Mk 1 Golf Cabrio - power roof problem

1993 Golf Mk 1 Cabrio  - been left over the winter with the roof up - and now the dam thing wont motor down/up - I can hear the relay at the back clicking - any ideas?

any fluid leaked out into the boot??

you may need to get some wd40 and spray the joints on the frame then get a willing helper to press the buttom while you help it down :wink:

if it wont operate on the switch, go in the boot and turn the brass release valve on the hydraulic hood pump, you can then raise and lower it by hand and it will also allow you access to wd40 all the joints on the frame

check the fluid level in the hydraulic ram is correct and that the switch is working correctly, if you have electric windows? just swap one of the window switches over onto the hood one! they are the same plug fit and it will prove/negate its the switch at fault
