mfa lcd display not working, can you get a replacement?

hi all, had a bit of a play today to get some more bits working on the mk1 (83 tintop gti), i now have a working temp guage and know that the speedo isnt working due to the speedo cable being knackered but the mfa guage is just blank.

i plugged some spare clocks in (from an early gti without the mfa) and the clock part lit up so im presuming my lcd display is knackered.

does anyone know if there are replacements available?

             I'm an electronics engineer who manufactures mostly very high standard ProAudio.
Having repaired about three MFA's and collected about 10 None working ones, so for a long
time I've been considering manufacturing refurbished MFA's or complete replacement's

Reverse Engineering and making a prototype can be very time consuming but depending on
the amount of interested party's it might be well worth considering.
I will quickly add that I'm semi-retired but I do like to be busy, and enjoy bringing out new
products for Helios Electronics Ltd of which I'm the Director and one of the designers, I'm
not expecting to get rich overnight I just like to research whats required in small amounts.

sounds interesting, any cope for making the replacements OLED type screens? I'm guessing not but its worth an ask

Common problem is poor connection on the binnacle plug. Wrap few turns of insulation tape over the nub the blue Mylar film fits over. This pads the connection out between them ensuring a better connection. Plus give the contacts a clean.
Another issue is the earthing wire and strap missing. There is a brown/white wire that goes from the top right corner stud/but. Plus an earth braided strap that goes from the same point to the coil mounting bracket bolt.
Poor connection here especially after painting in the scuttle area or engine work. I've seen the braid left off after paint or rocker cover change.
Just a few thoughts…..
