main beam light probelms
Hiya chudd.
was hoping that you would be able to help me.
I have a mark 1 golf g reg.
it has not been on the road for a couple of years and have just had a mot to get th emk1 on th eroad.
The mot failed for a cople of reasons.
firstly and i think the importat thing is the switch that operates the headlights.
when i switch the lights to position 1 the sidelights come on and also the dipped beam.
when i put the switch in position 2 then i get a full beam as if i am flashing some1……. the flasher stick does not work function at all and am confused what is happening.
I also failed because i have no fog light at the back of the car and having looked at the lights at the back i have ealized that there is no fog light? or is there?
you seem the right person to ask and hope you can help

Check the column stalks as that is where the main beam switching is done. The foglight is integral with the rear lights.

HEADLIGHT PROBLEMS
CHEERS FOR YOUR REPLY.
I HAVE CHECKED THE FLASHER STALK AND IT LOOKS FINE TO ME, NOT SURE WHAT I SHOULD BE LOOKING FOR. IT DOES OPERATE AS NORMAL IN TERMS OF MOVEMET BUT IT AINT DOING ANYTHING.
WHAT SHOULD I BE LOOKING FOR?
I DID HAVE A SIMILAR PROBLEM WITH MY INDICATORS WHERE THAY ALL USED TO FLASH BUT SOLVED THE PROBLEM AT THE BACK OF THE FUSE BOARD,
I have looked at the wirng diagrams and have noticed that there is no wire going into the back of the fuse board position at position "m" .
i think this is the problem but not sure
