inky has same problem see below.
Have you got another light switch you could try if fuses are fine.
also does full beam latch on correctly or just flash.

every single fuse is ok.
is there any way of testing relays? or just replace with a new/known working one?
thanks

Wiggle the yellow connector at the back of the fuse box.

will be the indicater stalks.
seen a few mk1's with this problem now,
give the electrical connections on the back of the stalks a wiggle, see if that sorts it, if so its a crap connection so do this……
disconnect the connection blocks from the backl of the stalks, take off steering wheel, take out the 3 small pins to remove the stalks, they will then come off in 2 pieces.
give all the electrical connections on the back (where the wiring plugs connect to) a thorough clean with a fine bit of sand paper and put it all back together
10-15 min job and you should now see where your going in the dark

LIGHTS NOW WORK whoohooo
i took apart the stalks and cleanded them they looked really grubby. put it all back together but it didnt work so i had a good poke around and it was just some dodgy wiring where a wire has broken so replaced and now works fine thatnks for all your help.
