Lost Speedometer
Hi,
The speedo on my MK1 Golf convertible (1985) has stopped working even though the revometer still does. My mileage isn't ticking over either. Do I just need to fit a new cable or is this usually some sort of serious sensor issue?
Cheers, Russ.

there is a 10 mm bolt on the gear box at top try tighten it or remove cable from box and turn the needle with a battery gun if you have one but buy hand if you dont if no joy go to the back of the clocks and check out but try the first thing i had the same prob and it was the 10mm bolt

I appear to have inadvertedly buggered the thread on the gearbox after trying to turn speedo cable over by hand. (which didn't work by the way) It's not my day today. Should I try and retap it to fit a 12mm bolt do you think?
