Load reduction relay problem

Hi all,

The relay in position 8 of my fuse board on my '91 Cab GTI is running hot, very hot. According the the relay diagram (sticky) posted by Chudd this relay is a 'load reduction' relay.

Does anyone know what exactly this is for and why it is running hot?

Cheers,
Meenrod

                           mk3=19
these are numbers printed in white on top of relay, try this 2 c if solves prob if not we'l try summit slse m8

19 isnt load reduction its intermittant wipers.
x-over relay numbers will be 18 on pretty much any VAG model from MK1 to MK3
