Lights problems

I have a 1985 Cabrio that I'm restoring… and I?m having problems with the lights!!

I have 4 light system, and he (cabrio) won't turn on the low beem!!

Can anyone maybe take a picture of the wire-ing… maybe I'm not connecting them right ??

It would be awesome if someone would maybe help me

best regards

Annie

p.s sorry I put this on the wrong site…it's should have gone to  Electrics, but I didn't see it :)

What exactly have you checked/tested so far? Power to the light switch? Power to the headlight connector when turned on? Do any of the lights work?

When I got the car the lights were all in mess and all connected the wrong way, and I have been trying to sort things out. and I have checked all the fuses.

when I but the light switch on the middle, the only light the is on is the parking light, but when I set the switch to the left(as far as it goes)( this is a left hand drive car) the light sometimes ( depends how I connect it) turn on the middle light, and sometimes the high beam on the outer light and sometime both the middle light and the high beam on the outer light

But never the low beam !!!

this is driving me crazy… but luckily the car wont be on the streets until end of April

here is a pic of him

Sounds like a faulty switch but to make sure you need to test the power to the lights with a test meter.

When you say connected the wrong way how were they connected before?

fault

I had this problem, it turned out to be the rear fog light causing the issue. I fixed that and everthing fell into place.

You have to remember the loom goes round your car before hitting the lights and in the case of my car, if one thing goes it knocks something else out.

Hope this helps  :dontknow:

It does sound like a faulty switch to me, maybe they did a quick fix on it and never got round to repairing it properly. It wont hurt to put a new switch in anyway as they don't cost *that* much :)

Bah well….. You can check the switch itself but until I get the switch out I can't possibly tell you how and its freezing out there atm, so wait unti I can clear the snow off my car (which wont be tonight) :)

Ooo Hang on, by low beam do you mean side lights or the dipped beam? If you mean dipped well that'll be the stalk on the left that is either stuck (which means its not been replaced properly) or its not connected properly (which means checking the connector out)
