lights on dash in my mk1 gti need help please.

Hi

Please can someone help with this problem as i cant get my head round it.  If i turn my light on all the lights on my dash go out, the rev counter stops working but the lights on the outside of the car work.

If i turn my lights off them the dash comes back to life and everything starts working again.  Is there something wrong with the dash or is it something else????

Any info would be appricated.

Sounds like a bad earth, have a look to see the clock are well earthed.  Also an earth to the rocker cover that can come off and cause similar probs.
