Lights & Wipers (!)

My cabrio developed a funny fault on Friday - when I turned the side lights on, the windscreen wiper and washer started up 8O .  Spent Saturday trying to locate the fault.  It's in the back of the fuse board somewhere because the fault goes away when it is unhooked and left hanging on its wires.  Has anyone seen this before?  Fuse board is still hanging on its wires, waiting for better weather, i.e. not raining.  I found it was a fuse board problem once the entire dash wiring was hanging out, of course :( .  Any ideas appreciated, and I'll post what the fault was once I find it.

Clean all the earth connections you can find start with the battery and finish with the fuze board , reason is that the curcuits have only that in common and maybe by swinging the fuze board down you clear the poor earth .

Also look for corrosion signs at the rear of the fuze board -in all connections - they may be linked . Keep it simple , electrical problems like this are usually simple and down to poor connections and poor earths

Good luck ……..

Thanks Chudd.  I reckon that there may be some dodgy insulation back there behind the fusebox, and that when its all hanging loose (!) the exposed wires don't make contact any more.  Still waiting for good weather (and have to fix the wife's skoda too!)
