Junction box? additional fuse box?! wiring help

Hello all,

I want to rip out the last owners electrics mainly because i dont trust what how other people wire! thing is i want to make the wiring as neat as possible! I dont want to keep tapping off the loom but chopping into it and soldering etc,

Im thinking a water proof fuse/junction box that i can place in the cabin, run a wire straight from the battery for my permanent live and tap off the ignition live then ground the fuse box,

i want to know if its safe to just tap off the IGN live into my new 8way fuse box then wire up my appliances from there! e.g. stereo, gauges etc.

The permantlive isnt a problem as that will be coming off the battery, but would me tapping off the IGN Live into a new fuse box put too much load on it? I dont want to cause a fire?!

also, how to people wire up their accessories on here? do you guys just tap into the loom?

EDIT: I just though about relays!!! think ive answered my own question XD

you can indeed, this is exactly what vw have done in the mk3 golf. if you pop into your local scrappy have a look above the fusebox and you'll see a bunch of 4 way plastic junction boxes for all kinds of feeds inside the car. it can be a right mare to get to them though as sometimes they're burried deep in the dash
