Instrument Cluster

hello all. over the weekend decided id remove my instrument cluter as few of the gauges werent illuminating. once id got it out a noticed the green film with the electrical tracks on it was damaged and upon refitting non of the warning lights, illumination fuel and temp gauges work anymore. is there anywhere you can get another instrument cluster from or does it have to be a secondhand from a breaker?

cheers

You should just get away with a new flexible circuit board (the green bit), but I don't think you can buy them new from anywhere.

If you are a dab hand with the soldering iron, you can srape the circuit film back to the copper strips and bridge the damage with fine wire soldered each side of the breaks. Have done it a couple of times, also the circuit film cracks where it comes out of the plug area and can lead to total loss of gauges but is repairable by this method.

I don't have the Haynes manual to hand just now, but I'm wondering whether the circuit diagram for the flexible circuit board is in there. Does anyone know?

It wouldn't be that hard to make a fibreglass type PCB to replace the flexible one, and I'd be serisously tempted as every time I remove the dash something else stops working!
