indicators

my hazzards work fine when i use the indicators the light on the dash comes on but thats about it any ideas how to fix would be much apprieciated

So the hazards work, but nada when you try and use the indicator stalk? if that's the case, try checking if you have ignition live going to the indicator stalk - I had the same problem not so long ago.
1980 Series 1 GTI (gone now .. what a mistake selling her!)
1979 Series 1 LD - the Mandarin Dragon … gone as well. oh dear.

Model? does it have two separate relays? one for hazzards one for indicators?

nope just the 1 relay for both. the ign live is the blue/black wire, its on fuse #19 if its the later style blade fusebox. could be the hazard switch is dead too
