Immobilizer trouble

Just got my golf back on the road today, was shuffling the cars about on the drive so I could use it for the first time in the morning since August, my 2 year old was sat in it while I moved the wifes car. When I came back to start it a 5 pence coin was sat in the immobilizer housing, I removed it and inserted the dongle thing, car is now dead, there is no beep or any power to the fuel pump or starter. I tried removing the fuse and disconnecting the battery, no joy.
Can anyone help please, some info about the model
Its a auto block, the number on the side is 9610a2002/969956
its the push a bit of plastic in then pull out type I think its quite old
Please help so I don't have to drive the wifes Mazda anymore
