hrlp fitting cd unit

hi all was trying to fit cd unit in my mark 1

original wiring in car is brown, orange &blue grey both these jointed, red. brown connected this to black(ground).

orange,&bluegrey to yellow(memory and orange (light)
red to red (power)
i have no power at all where am i going wrong help

nothing happening no power to unit am i going wrong so0mewhere

i always join yellow and red together, both live and means you can listen to tunes without the ignition on burning your coil out!

the black and brown are earths i believe, make sure though as the colours of modern wires have all changed!!! a lot of black wires are now lives, the blue wire is antenna/aux (not needed) and the orange is for amp i think?
