how do you operate the rear wiper on 83 tin top?

dont know if im stupid but i cant find a switch to operate the rear wiper and washer, the wiper operates when i short it out at the motor end but no info in haynes manual as to whereabouts of switch seem to have tried all combinations on wiper stalk

Push the right stalk away from you, ie forwards WRT the car. It is one momentary switch, which will squirt some water and wipe for 3 or 4 times.

hi thanks for the reply, however on the rh stalk there is definately no forward movement only backwards(towards me) which operates the front wiper and wash and springs back to position

Assuming the rear wiper is standard on the car, then it sounds like either someone's swapped the stalk in its lifetime, or its broken.
